Incredible records show lightning in the area of an erupting volcano

Lightning storms are amazing phenomena to watch, aren't they? So what about the grandeur of an erupting volcano? If individually these two phenomena are more than sufficient to show us the force of nature, imagine when they happened at the same time.

And it was precisely the meeting of these two natural phenomena that was captured by the lens of Chilean photographer Francisco Negroni. Founder of the South Press Agency - which serves renowned news agencies such as AFP, Reuters and AP - the professional went to look closely at the event and kept track of everything with his photographic eye.

The surprising meeting of the phenomena took place in the Andes region, near the Argentine border. There is located the Puyehue-Cordón Caulle chain, which comprises two volcanoes. One of them - Cordón Caulle - erupted on June 4, 2011 and is still active.

Even 10 months after the eruption, the volcano expelled lava over an area of one kilometer from the crater. Despite taking risks, the photographer spent the night on site to get the records. The images showing the lightning storm were taken on the second day of the volcano eruption from Lago Ranco, a safe city ten kilometers from the region. Check out:
