Can you guess what this sculpture is made of?

Did you get a good look at the sculpted face above? So, if you had to make a guess about the material used to create the work, what would you say? That it was made from a marble disc or something? Maybe it is one of these works developed through 3D printers? None of it!

The image was actually carved into a block of cheese. More specifically, in a piece of Parmesan - by the talented Italian artist Valeriano Fatica. By the way, check out a time lapse that shows the sculptor with his hands in the formaggio in the mass:

Hand talent

Awesome, don't you think? According to the description Valeriano included in the video, he created the sculpture above for a wedding party - and it took no less than 7 hours to finish the first version of the piece. But the work didn't stop there, no! It took the sculptor another 1 hour to complete the first transformation, and another 3 to reach the final work (which was devoured by the party guests!).

This one, by the way, is not the only sculpture Valerian created with pieces of cheese! See more examples below:

And Valerian doesn't use his talents just by sculpting Parmigiano pieces! If you sneak a peek at your Innstagram profile - available through this link - you'll find that he creates the most amazing works with a variety of foods. But back to cheese, what did you think? Would you pity to stick a knife in the sculptures?
