Sharknado: After Cyclone, Shark Found on Road in Australia

In 2013, Hollywood presented us with an oversized pearl: “Sharknado”. The film shows what would happen if a hurricane carried a lot of sharks into the middle of the city. What seemed to be just a fictional story has just happened in real life. And the country where this unusual event takes place could not be any other than Australia.

Cyclone Debbie, which struck the coast around midday on Tuesday, caused a series of damage and forced the evacuation of 30, 000 people from the worst-hit regions. Fortunately, so far, no human deaths have been recorded during the high winds reaching 270 km / h.

But the same cannot be said of a flat-headed shark, which was found lifeless by firefighters near the northeastern city of Ayr. It was 1.5 meters long and must have been dragged there due to the flood that hit the country with the passing of Debbie.

Animal landed on a road after cyclone passing

This species swims in the shallow, warm waters of practically the entire planet, sometimes entering rivers - it is even believed that it was in some stream before being taken to the road. About 1 hour before the pictures were taken a small flood was detected in the Burdekin River, which is near where the animal was found.

Firefighters suspect that the shark tried to escape the storm by swimming into the river, but was eventually surprised by the flood. A couple of locals arrived with a knife and managed to tear one of the animal's teeth out as a souvenir before firefighters got the animal out of the way. Things that only happen in Australia, right?

And you doubted it could happen ...
