Photo Series Shows What Children from 9 Countries Eat at Lunch

Food is culture, and you only have to travel to any country other than yours (or even to any different region in a large country like Brazil) to understand that each location has its own unique way of eating. Traveling, then, is a more than valuable opportunity to experience new cultures and new dishes.

What is common in the most diverse countries is undoubtedly the concern with infant feeding, especially since many children spend long periods in school and need to eat outside the home. The following series of photos will be taken by Sweetgreen, an American restaurant chain that works to promote healthy eating.

The idea was to show that the US is sinning when it comes to choosing the food of the little ones and that, compared to other countries, there is a lack of things for American children to eat well. Here's what children in nine countries eat:

1 - Italy

Fish with arugula, caprese salad, pasta with tomato sauce, baguette and grapes.

2 - Finland

Pea soup, beet salad, carrot salad, bread and a pancake dessert with berries.

3 - France

Steak, carrot, string beans, cheese and fresh fruits.

4 - Brazil

Roast pork with vegetables, rice with beans, salad, bread and banana.

5 - South Korea

Chowder, rice with tofu, kimchi and fresh vegetables.

6 - Greece

Baked chicken with orzo, grape leaf cigar, tomato and cucumber salad, oranges and greek yogurt with pomegranate.

7 - Ukraine

Mashed potato with sausage, borscht (beetroot soup with pork), cabbage and syrniki, which is a sweet pancake.

8 - Spain

Shrimp with rice and vegetables, gazpacho, fresh peppers, bread and orange.

9 - USA

Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, peas, a serving of fruit salad and a chocolate chip cookie.
