That's right, dear reader: In Saudi Arabia, there is a contest that elects the most beautiful camels and dromedaries in the country. Physical aspects such as lips, cheeks, heads and knees are evaluated. However, some breeders have decided to turbocharge their animals, causing the downgrading of 12 camels for excess botox in the last championship.

Saudi Arabia has been undergoing a moment of major cultural reform: cinemas have been reopened after 35 years, the economy aims to be more diverse (oil is now the main item there) and women have come to be accepted in football stadiums and in traffic. But modernity does not include botox camels, of course.

These animals are true symbols of Saudi Arabia: camels have been used for centuries by the Bedouin Arabs as a means of transportation, as entertainment (racing), as food and even as pet companions.

The most beautiful camel contest used to be held in the middle of the desert, but since last year has been moved to the outskirts of Riyadh, the country's capital. In addition to the "Mister Camel", are also organized fairs, exhibitions and races, with over $ 180 million in prizes - no wonder that modified animals deserve to be disqualified, do not agree?
