Have you noticed the bizarre cats that the people of the Middle Ages drew?
Don't think that the illustrators of the Middle Ages only painted weird, adult-looking babies and cherubs. In fact, as we explained in a previous article here from Mega Curioso, there is a reason why the “little ones” look like “big people”: apparently, as most images of the time were commissioned by the Church, the artists drew the children inspired by the concept of "homunculus" - originated from the idea that Jesus Christ was born perfectly formed, according to the Holy Scriptures.
But medieval artists have also drawn many fantastic creatures and bizarre animals! See the cats we have gathered below - from a shared list by Annie Churdar of So Bad So Good. We don't know the explanation for poor pussies being portrayed so strangely, some with slightly human features and even engaging in impossible activities. Check out:
1 - This one has even eyebrows
(So bad so good)2 - And this one, does not have a child's face?
(So bad so good)3 - This one looks kind of crazy
(So bad so good)4 - And this one, all upset playing a lute?
(So bad so good)5 - This one seems more excited about his bagpipe
(So bad so good)6 - What did you give to this cat?
(So bad so good)7 - It looks skittish!
(So bad so good)8 - How discouraged ...
(So bad so good)9 - It was worth a sacrilege
(So bad so good)10 - Monarch
(So bad so good)11 - This one doesn't look very happy
(So bad so good)12 - Creed!
(So bad so good)13 - Even the cat got scared by the scene
(So bad so good)14 - Explain!
(So bad so good)15 - Kind of sinister, no?
(So bad so good)16 - Hybrid
(So bad so good)17 - Would they be good friends?
(So bad so good)18 - Almost a rabbit
(So bad so good)19 - What animal would that be in the cat's mouth?
(So bad so good)20 - Jeez ... Little bird!
