4 mysterious deaths that even the internet couldn't solve

If there is one thing you find on the web, it's conspiracy theories. Internet users love to discuss - in places like the reddit social network or thematic forums - about mysterious issues, trying to solve bizarre cases that even the authorities have given up on investigating. And for those who have the courage to study the subject, many of these cases involve seemingly inexplicable deaths.

Just do a quick search to find topics with dozens of pages filled with theories worthy of an episode of “CSI”. Worst of all, even with the efforts of the police and the unofficial investigations of netizens, there are still some macabre deaths that no one has been able to solve. We selected some sinister cases - could you find the answer to these puzzles?

1) Kathy Hobbs's visions

On the night of July 23, 1987, a few months after his 16th birthday, Kathy Hobbs (who lived in Las Vegas) decided to go to the market to buy a book and disappeared. His body was not found until seven days later, when a wanderer found his decaying corpse in the middle of the desert. Tire tracks, bloody stones, and head injuries indicated that Kathy had been kidnapped and killed by head trauma.

Most bizarre is that the young woman predicted her death from childhood, claiming to have premonitions that she was no more than 16 years old. After her burial, her family found letters written a month before the incident, as if Kathy was really sure she was going to die. To this day, nobody knows who - or what - killed her.

2) Macabre Mail

Mary Gillispie, a school bus driver, was having a secret affair with the superintendent of the school she worked for. One day she started receiving letters threatening her if she didn't stop the betrayals. The threats continued for months, until her husband Ron also received an intimidating message and freaked out. He got into his truck, drove a few miles and died by hitting a tree.

Already married to her hitherto lover, Mary continued to receive the letters. One day she found evidence that the threat was Paul Freshour - brother-in-law of the late Ron. Paul was sentenced and arrested ... But the letters kept coming, even with him inside the cell, signed by the "Circleville Writer." By the way, Paul himself received a note signed by the man who, to this day, no one found out who it was.

3) Accident or murder?

A case that has become very famous here in Brazil is that of Elisa Lam, a young Canadian (of Cantonese origin) who was found dead in the water tank of Cecil Hotel, where she had stayed during a trip. His body was only found because other guests complained of the smell and taste of water; an official went to check and found the 21-year-old student floating, already decomposing.

The strange part of this story is that, on the Internet, a video circulates in which Elisa tries to climb the elevator, fails and begins to despair, wriggling her body and gesturing as if she is talking to (or running away from) someone - not being. there was no one else in the place. In the end, some believe she suffered from psychological disorders; others who fell victim to a serial killer.

4) Stuck in the chimney

At 18, Josh Maddux simply left home without telling his father where he would go. He disappeared. After seven years of searching and investigation, Josh's remains were found in an abandoned cabin - and, worse yet, not far from his original home. The young man was inside the chimney, in a fetal position, with his knees above his head and one hand covering his face. To this day, no one can explain what happened.
