It's no use: You might even try to be honest, but hiding the truth is only a matter of time. At least that is the conclusion of a study published in 2002 by the University of Massachusetts, which states that 60% of people cannot keep up a 10-minute conversation without letting go of a lie.

According to Mentalfloss, in the survey, several participants even managed to break the time limit just by telling the truth, but the final average was three lies in the 10 minutes of conversation. Another curious feature noted by the study is the denial: everyone who didn't pass the test said they were honest - and they were surprised when they watched the videos with the interviews and were caught in the act.

Already according to the study "The Day America Told The Truth", parents are the main targets of lies (86%), followed by friends (75%), siblings (73%) and spouses (69%). But the most curious is the theme of the fudge, according to another survey: hiding the truth is always related to small things in daily life, but one of them appeared in excess: 30% of people lied that they had watched the movie "The Godfather" just to don't shame on conversation wheels.

The problem is when it matters, such as lying on the resume (40%) or changing characteristics on your profile to get a match on internet dating sites (90%) - which can cause very unpleasant surprises at the time of the meeting.
