7 cases of people who woke up after being pronounced dead
Doctors often have the mission of giving bad news, after all, in some cases, death is inevitable, whether due to the age of the patient or the severity of a disease. What is not so common is that some patients considered dead come back to life, but so do the following cases:
1 - Grandma died and woke up hungry
Chinese 95-year-old Li Xiufeng was found "dead" in her bed. Family members took her to a hospital, but she was without vital signs. The wake was made at home so that neighbors, relatives and friends could attend without major problems.
The coffin was not completely closed, which helped Xiufeng out of it when he awoke from what she defined as "a long sleep." She simply got up from the coffin and headed for the kitchen. The family members were worried about the disappearance of the body and began to search every corner, after all, the funeral should be done soon. And suddenly, Xiufeng was found cooking, explaining that he woke up very hungry and needed to eat something. The doctors called the case "artificial death".
2 - No more morgue
Do you find it surprising when a person is pronounced dead and comes back to life? So the story of the Russian grandma who was pronounced dead twice and returned to live twice might leave you with your mouth open. The 61-year-old woman came back to life last time after spending three days - yes, three days - in a morgue a few minutes before her body was opened for an autopsy. And there are people who don't believe in second chances ...
In October 2012 Lyudmila Steblitskaya, who suffers from heart problems, had a third death, but the smart doctors did not declare it, and she came back to life in a matter of hours.
3 - Stuck in the morgue
Imagine waking up in a locked, cold, dark morgue drawer? Boring, isn't it? Yeah ... A man in South Africa went through it once, since after a very serious asthma attack, his vital signs disappeared and he was pronounced dead.
As soon as the family learned of the news, he requested the services of a morgue, which quickly fetched the boy's body. About 20 hours after "dead", the man woke up and began to cry out for help. The morgue staff panicked, thinking it was a ghost. The owner of the establishment, Ayanda Maqolo, said he was desperate but did not want to show his weakness to employees.
Maqolo's move was to call the police and ask for help. The police arrived armed and a large number of people were present, ready at the opening of the drawer. The man was pale but alive. He was referred to a hospital, where he was under observation for a while and then released. The family learned that the dead man was alive while preparing the boy's funeral.
4 - Maternal instinct
The girl is now one year old, but when she was born after only six months of pregnancy, she was pronounced dead, as doctors could not find vital signs. The baby was soon sent to the morgue and, thanks to the insistence of parents who wanted to see their daughter again, she is alive today.
After 12 hours of morgue, already in a coffin, the girl breathed again and cried. Luckily, her parents were right next to her.
5 - Almost happy ending
This two-year-old Brazilian boy was pronounced dead from pneumonia in a hospital in Belém do Pará at 7:40 pm. The child's family held a wake at home, with the boy in an open casket.
When Kelvin Santos' funeral was just over an hour away, however, the boy woke up, sat down and said, "Daddy, can I have a glass of water?" The boy's father, Antonio Santos, said that everyone started screaming and then people who saw the scene began to imagine that it was a miracle, but the boy lay down and died again.
The family took Kelvin's body to the nearest hospital, where he was under observation for another hour, but apparently nothing could be done: the boy was really dead.
6 - Heart Attack
Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov, a 49-year-old Russian woman, was pronounced dead. Hours later, she woke up in a coffin and saw her friends and family around. Then she began to scream as she realized the situation and that if she had not woken up she would be buried alive.
The idea was so terrifying that Fagilyu had a heart attack and died. This time for real.
7 - The man who woke up during his procession
Friends and family were mourning the death of Brighton Dama Zanthe, a 34-year-old in Zimbabwe. It was one of the strongest moments of a wake, when some people offered to carry the coffin, and that was when Zanthe woke up, screaming.
The people present were startled and ran because they thought the man had become a ghost that would haunt their lives. After they realized that the dead man was Zanthe himself, they took him to a hospital where the boy recovered from his fright.
