Light, Pull, Hold and Pass: Learn 7 Curious Facts About Marijuana

Marijuana is a really controversial subject that we have talked about here at Mega Curioso several times, whether to say that cannabis-fed pigs make a tastier bacon, to tell about different kinds of weed, or to publicize the sale of cannabis condoms. . Today we will tell you some very bizarre curiosities about this drug. Check out:

1 - Beginning of everything

It is not yet possible to say with certainty when cannabis began to be used as a drug. There is a museum dedicated to the history of drugs in Arlington, Virginia. There, it is reported that the earliest record referring to the use of marijuana dates from the year 2727 BC, when the Chinese emperor Shen Nung theoretically discovered the herb and began to use it medicinally.

The problem with this theory is the fact that Shen Nung was not a Chinese emperor - besides that the first emperor of China was Qin Shi Huang, who was born much later, only in 260 BC. Shen Nung, and under what circumstances he would have recorded his cannabis experiments, even because China's first documentary records date from 1200 to 1050 BC

When it comes to weed, the existence of this Shen Nung seems to be more of a rumor than anything else. Even though this guy's story is part of a drug agency, you can't be sure that such evidence is true.

2 - Other uses

Marijuana is not used for recreational or medical purposes only. It is known that the famous green leaflets were used in ancient times to produce fibers of fabrics and cables. A survey in 2012 to find out how the Easter Island stones were loaded found that the huge stones were dragged and lifted with the help of marijuana ropes.

3 - Differences

Did you know that cannabis can have an effect on men and another on women? A study this year evaluated the effects on rats and, according to Rebecca Craft, one of the researchers, females are more sensitive to the effects of cannabis, at least as regards the analgesic characteristics of the drug. Females are also more likely to develop drug tolerance, which can lead to addiction.

Apparently, this difference is due to the presence of estrogen in mice, which are even more sensitive to the effects of marijuana when they are ovulating.

4 - Medicine for animals

You sure must have seen, heard, or read a story about the medical uses of marijuana, right? Regardless of the controversy the issue may cause, the truth is that the drug seems to play an important role in treating diseases like glaucoma and even cancer.

What you may not know yet is that marijuana is already used to treat cat and dog disease, according to an article published in the 2013 American Veterinary Medical Association. The drug can be deadly to animals if given in large quantities, but to the right extent it has already been shown to be effective in treating some veterinary diseases.

5 - And the heart, how is it?

We are used to hearing about marijuana's contraindications because it seems to be linked to mental and respiratory diseases, but what about the heart? Does it lose in this too?

A study published in April this year revealed an analysis of 2, 000 patients who used marijuana as a medical treatment in France. The result pointed out that 2% of volunteers had heart problems after drug use, with nine people having fatal heart attacks.

Earlier research had already pointed out that cannabis can indeed impair the heart health of the individual who uses the drug, even because marijuana use is associated with increased blood pressure.

6 - In the air

Look how bizarre: the outskirts of the Colosseum in Rome, Italy, look smoky with marijuana, just as the air in seven other Italian cities is full of smoke from the burning of the drug. Some researchers came to the conclusion in 2012 after studying which cities oozed marijuana in the noodle country.

If you are thinking of doing some sort of cannabinoid tourism, follow the best route: Rome, Bologna, Florence, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Turin and Verona. The two cities whose air had the highest levels of marijuana were Florence and Bologna. Still, it is not considered harmful to the health of those who live or walk in these places.

7 - How much is it worth or per kilo?

As much as marijuana is considered a green and natural drug, the truth is that growing this plant requires a lot of electricity, which we already know is not good for the health of the planet. Just to give you an idea, growing 1 kg of the plant in a home-grown greenhouse requires just as much energy to drive around the US by car. Five times.

Growers around the world, especially from countries where the drug is legal, have already adopted changes, such as the use of less energy-consuming LED lamps.
