Hitler's ring and other historic items go up for auction this week

A powerful, lush and very rare ring will go on sale in the coming days and it is estimated that its sale could be worth $ 100, 000 - or just over $ 220, 000 at today's price. That's a pretty high value, but that's the price to pay for a ring that may have already adorned Adolf Hitler's hands.

Made of gold-plated silver and several studded rubies, the swastika-shaped ring belonged to the Nazi leader 75 years ago, but it has never been confirmed whether the Fuhrer actually wore the piece. The creator of the creation was jeweler Karl Berthols, a Nazi fanatic who, according to the Luxury Launches website, was known to have expelled Jewish artisans from Frankfurt after the seizure of power in 1933.

The lost ring

Not only is it unclear whether Hitler ever wore the ring, it was missing for a few years and was found by US troops in 1945 in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria. One of the soldiers would have taken the ring as a souvenir and sold it some time later.

Over the years, the rarity went from collector to collector until the last of them died two years ago. This collector's grandson is responsible for putting the piece up for sale through the Alexander Historical Auctions auction house in Maryland, United States.

Known for working with military and historical items, the auction house ensures that it has documents proving that the ring was really made for the German leader. In the same lot will be auctioned the box in which the ring was kept and many other historical pieces.

The Washington Examiner reports that the auction will take place online and live September 9-10. To check out the full lot and to know the other hundreds of relics that will be sold by the house, visit the auction house website here.
