Presenter is attacked by crocodile and has torn mouth [video]

Working with wildlife has its challenges, and that's what the host Mark Evans felt in his skin while filming for his show: in an attempt to help some men hold a crocodile, he was suddenly attacked by the animal.

Evans's blow hit his mouth and eventually left the presenter with cut lips and a very bloody face. The attack was in Namibia a few months ago, where filming of the first episode of Operation Maneater was scheduled to air on Sunday in the United Kingdom.

The video shows the moment when Evans and others on his team are transporting the animal, which, even tied and theoretically immobilized, can quickly attack the presenter, who is thrown to the ground with such force of the reptile.

In the program produced in Namibia, Evans explores the issue of crocodiles that frequently attack the population, after all it is a region with many of them. With each such accident, residents act aggressively and end up killing the animals.

Evans's idea was precisely to reduce the incidence of attacks and, consequently, the killing of crocodiles. To this end, he led trainers and a technical team to teach these animals some general commands, causing them to associate the sound of a bell with an electric shock.

Because of the attack, the presenter was taken to a hospital in Johannesburg. The bite eventually broke some teeth of Evans, who feared he had suffered some kind of trauma in the jaw region. At the hospital, Evans was treated, underwent a surgical procedure and, 48 hours later, embarked again to Namibia to continue the recordings of his program. There he and his team stayed for another three weeks.

The accident has happened 10 months ago and even after so long, Evans still has difficulty chewing with his front teeth. Still, he celebrates the fact that he is doing well and says he was very lucky to have recovered. What a courage, huh!
