Last year, astronomers found that the 2011 AG5 asteroid was on its way to Earth. There is little chance (but there is) that it would hit our planet in February 2040, but it is not known exactly where it would fall. The odds are said to be remote, but according to ABC News, the problem is that scientists have only seen half of the route so far - which widens the margin of error in the calculations.

According to NASA's Near Earth Object Identification Program, the chances of impact occurring are 1 in 625. The 137-meter asteroid could be seen more clearly next year, and also in 2016. Only with these observations will more accurate calculations be made of the chances of a disaster.
