Do dogs communicate better with men or women?

Dogs are wonderful animals that enchant and fascinate us. Intelligent, they can learn many commands and become excellent pets, especially because they are true friends of their owners.

In terms of training and responding to various commands, it is common for people and dogs to communicate very well. A study by The Independent suggested that our barking friends can communicate better with women, you know?

Research has shown that human beings can really understand what a dog wants to communicate when it starts to growl, but it is women who really understand that canine speech.

To reach this conclusion, the researchers analyzed recordings of 18 dogs growling in different situations such as when they protect their food, decide to play, or feel threatened by the presence of a stranger.

Then 40 people were asked to identify the growls and barks, having to say what each tone meant in terms of fear, fun, aggression, happiness, and despair. Next, participants had to say in which context each growl usually happens.

Growl that I hear you

Overall, people were 63% successful at identifying the growls and grading them on scales. As study author Tamás Faragó explained, brain imaging analyzes have already suggested that dogs and humans use similar areas of the brain to process and access the recognition of other people's emotions.

He further clarified that there are biological rules among mammals regarding how they vocalize the emotions they encode, which makes it possible for humans to better understand the emotions not only of dogs but also of other mammals.

Women do even better at this time of identification because, as the author explained, "they are more empathic and sensitive to the emotions of others and this helps them better associate contexts with the emotional content of the growls." So, do you agree?
