Classmates: 18-year-old goes to college with his grandfather, 82

Young Melanie Salazar had a first day of college, unlike most people. The moment, which is usually marked by fear and tension, was for her a fun family adventure, alongside her 82-year-old grandfather Rene Neira, who decided to go back to school.

Both of them are enrolled at Palo Alto University in San Antonio, Texas, and are having the greatest success together - completely understandable, as it may be.

Seu Neira has been attending economics classes for some time and will soon receive his diploma. The granddaughter, who now has the opportunity to have her grandfather as a classmate in college, says that Neira's commitment makes all students respect and like him very much.

The whole world learned about this story when Melanie talked about studying with her grandfather on Twitter - people liked it so much that the publication ended up going viral. "It's been amazing to know how something that seems so normal to me is so unusual and extraordinary to others, " she said in a statement published on CBS News.

Melanie's grandfather joined college in the 1950s, but when he married, he eventually locked up. Throughout her life, Neira worked with various activities, but never neglected the desire to return to study economics.

Studious for pleasure, it is difficult to find this noble student without a book in his hands - the granddaughter confirms: Neira really likes to spend hours concentrated in the library, focused on his readings. A taste for study inspires Melanie, who still considers herself too young to know what she wants to work with for the rest of her life.

What she wants to work with, she doesn't know yet, but she's sure she wants to be like her grandfather, who has found what she really loves to do and hasn't given up on getting her college degree. Really, this academic grandfather is a great example!
