Check out 4 sinister creatures that have already caused controversy around the world
Turn and move we come across images of sinister creatures that are discovered out there and go viral on the internet. Although there are some cases still unexplained, most of the time, experts - and even members of the public itself - end up identifying the specimens as carcasses of dead animals or well-made farces.
For Ivana Wynn from Ranker has put together a series of these mysterious creatures in an interesting list - and here at Mega Curious we have selected four of them (two as yet unexplained and two whose stories have already been solved) for you to check:
1 - The Berwick Monster
The image you will see below was captured in late 2010 by a cameraman left in a wooded area in Berwick, Louisiana, by a hunter who preferred to remain anonymous. According to information circulating at the time, the guy and his family were camping at the site, left for some reason, and when they returned they found everything destroyed - and the sinister figure you can see below recorded on camera:
Of course, the sinister figure generated a great deal of controversy, and there was no shortage of accusing the hunter of having generated the creature by computer. There were even those who took advantage of the whole thing to promote themselves, such as the folks at developer Insomniac Games, who came out saying it was all part of a Resistance 3 campaign and that being scary was one of the characters in the game. "Had escaped from his studios."
Rumors also surfaced that the image could be part of a promotion campaign for the movie “Super 8” released in 2011, but none of this has been confirmed. But in addition to the people who took advantage of the buzz, theories circulated that the creature could be a fallen angel, possibly the same - or a little friend of the - that was supposedly captured in the following video in Spain:
Obviously, the two images - the Louisiana monster and the Spanish one - have generated endless discussions between those who believe they show real creatures and those who are convinced it is a scam, but no one has reached a consensus.
2 - The Montauk Monster
Does the name “Montauk” seem familiar to you? It is associated with an alleged obscure US government-led project that would have involved research related to teleportation, the expansion of the human mind, time travel and other dimensions, and invisibility. For there is something more associated with this conspiracy theory: a bizarre creature that appeared on a beach near New York's Montauk District in 2008.
The discovery has given rise to much speculation about the origin of the “monster” and among the hunchbacks circulating at the time are that the dead animal could be an unknown species of dinosaur, a shellless turtle, dog, an alien being and, of course, the result of sinister experiments conducted by the government.
In the end, although there is no news that the body was recovered and properly examined, experts who evaluated the images concluded that it was the decomposing carcass of a raccoon. They explained that the strange appearance is due to the fact that the water removed the animal's coat and the upper jaw was not present. Since then, similar creatures have appeared on US beaches and the apparitions still cause controversy.
3 - The Cerro Azul monster
The bizarre creature you will see next was discovered by some Panamanian teenagers in 2009 while they were on the outskirts of the town of Cerro Azul. According to the boys' version, the alien-looking being emerged from a cave and began to chase after them, so, terrified, they began throwing stones at the alleged ET until they killed him. At the time, the story of the brave teenagers circulated around the world, as did the image of the dead creature, and some tabloids even christened Gollum's strange being - in reference to the character of “The Lord of the Rings” who lived in a cave. But later analysis showed that the teens had told lies ...

4 - Metepec Alien Baby
About 10 years ago, a guy named Bear Ruíz who worked on a ranch in Mepetec, Mexico, said he found something quite bizarre in a mouse trap. He said, as soon as he found the specimen in the mousetrap, a human-looking creature the size of a small cat with a long head, he called the ranch owner, showed his find, and his boss clicked on a series of photos. Strangely enough, according to Bear, the being was still alive when it was found, and instead of him running the ranch owner or some expert, do you know what he did? Drowned the creature! Of course, because of the appearance of the copy, it was not long before rumors began to circulate that it was an alien baby. Interestingly, the ranch owner died shortly after in a bizarre fire - sparking rumors that he had been murdered by the little daddy's dads.
Well, the fact is that the talk involving the creature reached the ears of a Mexican ufologist named Jaime Maussan, who bought Bear's specimen and spent years trying to prove it was an extraterrestrial being. Since then, the alleged alien has been scrutinized by TV show investigators, laboratories in various countries and various veterinarians - and it was not easy to come up with a verdict!
A team of experts from a London lab concluded that the creature - or much of it - is nothing more than a hairless little monkey. In addition, the rancher who found the specimen was subjected to a lie detector test and eventually confessed that he himself had created the specimen from a dark-sawed marmoset ( Callithrix aurita ) he had been given to be. stuffed while working in a zoo!
