Meet the stinkiest bomb in the world

When it comes to war, we know that for some, anything goes. And the United States has taken this idea seriously, to the point of thinking of various alternatives and coming up with the scent bombs. With that, they produced the most stinky substance in the world.

The device was named as Standard Bathroom Malodor and developed by the US government. The clear liquid has a harmless appearance, but is composed of all chemicals that give the excrement a bad smell.

The odor of the product is so strong that it can be detected even in small amounts, such as a teaspoon of Malodor in an Olympic pool. Its composition is as follows:

  • Dipropylene Glycol: 62.82%
  • Thioglycolic Acid: 21.18%
  • Hexanoic acid: 6%
  • N-methylmorpholine: 6%
  • 2.18% p-cresyl isovalerate (p-methyl 3-methylbutanoate)
  • 2-naphthalenediol: 0.91%
  • Eschatol: 0.91%

The stink bomb was created by cognitive psychology and natural odor expert Pamela Dalton, who was hired in the early 2000s by the US military. The US government wanted Dalton to develop Malodor as a deterrent, probably to hinder or force an enemy out of hiding during combat.

When comparing the use of smelly bombs with other disturbance control agents, such as pepper or tear gas, it is believed that smell bombs are not dangerous but are effective at low concentrations, which gives them an advantage.
