Learn the story of the man born upside down

Claudio Vieira de Oliveira was born in Monte Santo, Bahia, and as soon as he breathed for the first time out of his womb, he was sentenced to death by the doctors who brought him into the world. The mother was advised to let her son die - after all, apparently he had no chance of continuing to live. But despite the cruel perspective, Claudio is today a great example of overcoming.

The Bahian was born with serious problems and deformities in the joints, and his head is fully turned down, leaning against his back. Still, his bone and joint formation did not make him die, and today Claudio tells his story in motivational lectures.

Repercussion

The Daily Mail recently reported the case of the Brazilian and since then his story has taken hold of social networks around the world. Claudio says he had to train hard to be independent and do normal things, such as using his cell phone, turning on the TV and computer.

Many movements that almost everyone makes with their hands, Claudio makes with the help of his mouth. It also has special shoes that make it easy to get around. Unlike most children, Claudio started walking on his knees when he was eight years old.

"There is a lot of joy today with Claudio. He is like anyone else. We never try to 'fix it' and we always encourage him to try to do things on his own. He was never ashamed to walk down the street, " said Maria José, mother of the speaker.

Support

Throughout his life Claudio had family support, so much so that his house was adapted so that he had mobility and independence. “Throughout my life, I have learned to adapt my body to the world, ” he said. Claudio attended school normally, and even graduated from Feira de Santana University.

The speaker's life is normal: he enjoys watching soap operas, reading magazines, using the computer, writing, eating alone, hanging out with friends, dancing, traveling and of course dating.

Claudio's condition was only recently diagnosed by a medical team. He has a rare deficiency known as congenital arthrogryposis. “I don't see myself as a different person. I'm a normal person, ”he said. To learn more about this story, visit the speaker's website, where you can also check his agenda. Below, check out an interview of Claudio to Itabuna TV:
