10 striking movie scenes that were not foreseen in the original script

Some actors are really good when they improvise. But some of them are able to get everything into the character's life and act and think like the person they are playing at the time of filming. That's where some of the best moments of improvisation come from.

You may not imagine, but many important cinema facts were decided on the spot by the actors (or by unusual events occurring in the scene) and eventually made the film's story take another direction or at least some personality traits were created. of characters that were not foreseen by the writer.

Grab the popcorn and follow the scenes!

The Godfather (1972)

Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) is much more than a cold-hearted head in the powerful Italian mafia family, and this feature is quite clear in the scene where he discusses a man's death in retaliation for beating a young girl.

While talking quietly about the cruelties to be done, he caresses a cat, which increases the “macabre” tone of the situation. The fact is that the cat was never in the script. Some reports say that Coppola would have thrown the feline into Brando's hands by the time shooting began. Others claim that the actor had found the animal around the set and simply did not drop the pussy at the scene.

Batman - The Dark Knight (2008)

One of the most well-known and impressive scenes in Heath Ledger's career history was in the skin of the Joker. However, few people know that the slow clapping in the chain was a brilliant improvisation of the actor, who at the moment of the scene felt immersed in the character's spirit.

Another scene where Heath Ledger surprised production was at the time of the hospital explosion. The sequence required the actor to just make his way to the bus while the explosion continued.

However, the actor chose to stop midway and play with the interval between bursts, pretending that the trigger had jammed. Improvisation was one of the moments that made Ledger's performance one of the most famous of all Batman films.

RoboCop (1987)

When Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) is taken to the police district, he spits out a huge (and disgusting) ball of blood on the paper and mends the line "Give me my damn phone call!" Smith and director Paul Verhoeven had argued about the scene, but the actor forgot to warn about the "extra element." The improvisation pleased the director, who sent the scene for the final montage.

A Beautiful Woman (1990)

In what becomes one of the most famous scenes in the movie, Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) presents Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) with a necklace. She curiously touches the jewelry. At the time of filming, Richard Gere improvised and, in a joke with his colleague, he closes the box in Julia Roberts's hand.

The actress' genuine reaction and sincere laugh was so enchanting that director Garry Marshall fell in love with the sequel and put the images in the movie. Some critics assert that this was the exact moment that made America fall in love with Julia Roberts.

I Want to Be John Malkovich (1999)

When John Malkovich is walking down the road, a car drives by with a man shouting at the window. The man throws a can and shouts "Hey, Malkovich, think fast!" Causing the actor to scream in pain as he was hit.

Contrary to what some directors might do, Spike Jonze did not consider this a mistake, but an opportunity and the film gained a new (and brilliant) scene.

Debt & Lois: Two Idiots in Trouble (1994)

The car trip scene is undoubtedly a great example of how inconvenient the pair of friends can be. What most people don't know, however, is that the joke about “the most annoying sound in the world” was improvised by Jim Carrey - and followed naturally by his co-stars.

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

When Han Solo (Harrison Ford) is present to be frozen, Princess Leia, (Carrie Fisher) makes the revelation about her great love for the character. The original script called for his answer to "I love you" to be "I love you too." However, Ford ignored the script and replied with a cold "I know."

The Rescue of Private Ryan (1998)

Image source: Playback / ScreenRantDuring a brief pause in combat, Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) sits next to Private Ryan (Matt Damon) and they exchange stories about what their homecoming would be like. The story that Damon tells about his brothers in the barn was entirely created by the actor during filming. None of that story was in the script of the movie.

Shark (1975)

When Police Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) has first contact with the shark and realizes his size, he gets up in a hurry and, improvising, tells Captain Quint (Robert Shaw) "you will need a bigger boat, " the which became one of the most famous phrases in the movie.
