Meet Michael Spann, the man who can cry blood

Michael Spann has been suffering from a condition that no doctor has been able to diagnose for seven years: periodically, small amounts of blood are expelled from his eyes, ears and nose without the youngster having any control over the situation.

According to Spann's reports, he suffers from severe headaches that precede the moment of blood flow. Despite trying to work and pursue an ordinary life, Spann suffers greatly from his condition, as manifestations can occur suddenly anywhere (work, bus, college, etc.).

Problem without immediate solution

“I can't get any work because I have severe headaches and start bleeding. I can't work as a waiter or in public places because of that either, ”said Spann. He doesn't even like to be photographed or give a lot of interviews about the subject, since it is something that disturbs him a lot. Michael's mother, Peggy, said that whenever her son meets new people or goes through different situations, his eyes start to tear up.

"It is very frustrating not knowing what disease my son has and not being able to treat it correctly, " said the mother. Michael Spann's doctor James Fleming said it was possible to have a diagnostic test on the boy's tear ducts. However, as these channels are very small (millimeters in diameter), it is very likely that permanent damage may occur during the examination - which causes an unsolved family dilemma. Currently, they are looking for alternative treatments to find a cure for Michael's problem.
