Medicine pack warns when medicine is expired

When you are sick and run to the closet looking for medicines, you will hardly pay attention to the medicine's expiration. With that in mind, designers Kanupriya Goel and Gautam Goel have created a new type of packaging that can alert you if the medicine is out of date.

The new type of seal also expires over time, and when it does, it reveals a "secret message." The package uses a multilayer material: the standard layer is kept on the outside while a new layer is applied on the inside.

In this second layer would be applied an ink, which would be diffused between the two layers over time. When the medicine has expired, you could clearly see the warning of danger.

In addition to helping distracted consumers, innovation could also be a weapon to inhibit the sale of expired drugs on the black market. The idea, however, is still just a concept.
