This family decided to convert an old military helicopter into a hotel.

We at Mega Curioso have already talked about every kind of hotel - from the most luxurious, to some dream and a few crazy ones. However, we had never seen anyone modify a helicopter to make it an accommodation option!

That's what a Scottish family did! According to Evelyn H. Armstrong of Boredom Therapy, this is a family of farmers who decided to buy a former British Air Force rescue helicopter and invest a little money to convert it into a small hotel. See the aircraft before it is refurbished:

According to Evelyn, the helicopter cost just over $ 10, 000, and the family invested another $ 52, 100 to transform the aircraft - a cost that, although high, was far below building a conventional hotel from scratch. Check out how the exterior was:

For starters, Martin Steadman, the “father” of the family, was responsible for all the reconstruction of the interior of the helicopter, which resulted in a beautiful final cost savings.

Steadman chose to preserve various details of the helicopter, such as the control panel, pedals and buttons, and replaced the pilot's seats with stylish armchairs.

The helicopter also gained comfortable seats.

And a sliding door where was the original entrance of the aircraft - which overlooks an outside area where a small deck equipped with a barbecue was installed.

Already inside the aircraft, the family installed a mini kitchen for guests, and the place can accommodate two adults and four children.

And in Scotland it's very cold in winter, right? But this is not a problem for those who wish to stay in the helicopter, as it has been equipped with thermal insulation and is therefore warm even on the coldest days.

The result was pretty cool and, according to Steadman, the idea came when he read an article about the helicopter - which would be dismantled - and could not believe that a part of the UK military history would be dismantled in this way. Ah! Are you curious about the amount charged per night? They go for $ 225 for the couple and $ 40 for the kids or so. So, dear reader, what did you think?
