Photographer records dogs while waiting for their owners inside the car

Who has never wondered what your pet's reaction is when he is alone? Does he sleep to make time pass faster, play enough to be distracted, or sit by the door until his owners return?

Inspired by personal experience, British photographer Martin Usborne decided to record the behavior of some dogs while in the car waiting for their owners to return. The touching images are part of The Silence of Dogs in Cars photo series.

“I was once left in the car when I was little. I don't know where or when or for how long, possibly at four, maybe outside a supermarket, probably for only fifteen minutes. The point is, I was wondering if anyone would come back. The fear I felt was strong: in a child's head it is possible to be alone forever. ”

Each dog, a reaction

What the professional did not expect was that dog behavior would be so varied. In general, animals seem to be saddened by the lack of their caretakers, but it is not always the same sadness, the same reaction.

“What I didn't expect was to see so many sudden reactions from the dogs: some sad, some anxious, some angry, some depressed. It was as if opening a box of gray pencils surprised me with so many nuances, ”explains the photographer.

In fact, some images touch us and bring us closer to the feeling that animals let on when they are alone, waiting for their owners. The love of animals also led Martin Usborne to create another project - A Year to Help - in which he seeks to save and portray the lives of other animals. It is worth checking.
