Touching Story Generates Millionaire Revenue, But Ends in Jail

Late last year, we brought a moving story: Kate McClure and Mark D'Amico were traveling to Philadelphia, USA, when their car ran out of gas. And who helped them? A homeless man named Johnny Bobbitt, who pulled out the only $ 20 he had in his wallet and lent it to the couple until they reached a post.

Kate and Mark were so moved by the action that they ended up spreading the story on the internet, intending to raise funds for the good Samaritan. The goal was to raise $ 10, 000, but managed to accumulate more than $ 400, 000 from about 14, 000 donors. So far, so good, it was just another story of how the internet helped give visibility and rewarded generous people.

But the reality was not quite that, no: Kate, Mark and Johnny were mischievous and had worked out the story just to move the internet. And everybody fell, see? In addition to the Mega people and 14, 000 donors, many sites around the world have told the story, which has just stopped behind bars.

The truth

In August of this year, Johnny decided to sue the couple he allegedly helped because they would be toasting the surplus accumulated in the online campaign to fund a luxury life. Except he wasn't the good guy in this story, no ... In fact, this is just a story with bad wolves!

Following the complaint of the homeless man - this is indeed a fact - the US authorities investigated and found that the couple had known Johnny for at least a month before allegedly meeting “by chance” on a street. Mark and Kate were betting on casinos in Philadelphia, and every now and then the homeless set up camp there. They plotted the story together to really help the guy, but it had nothing to do with missing gas or good deed.

Johnny allegedly got $ 75, 000 from the amount raised online, while the rest was toasted by Mark and Kate. He didn't like that, of course, and decided to sue them. In the end, the 3 have architected the whole story and could end up sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for estelionate and conspiracy. What cardboard, huh?
