Have you thought about studying at home? Learn a little more about home schooling

With the technological advances of the last decades, home education takes a new form and presents itself as an alternative for many families. In Brazil, according to data from the National Association of Family Education released in 2018, there are approximately 5, 000 families using the sport.

Here are some pros of home education, which point out how it can actually be the future of education:

1 - Personalized teaching method

We have some famous fans of family education. Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg appreciate the method because it tends to use a lot of technology in this process, adapting the student's needs as best as possible. There is even research that indicates that home schooled students performed better in math and reading.

2 - Diversification of syllabus

By having a method tailored to the child's learning curve, it is possible to teach other subjects in the early years, such as financial education or economics. The general idea is that, in addition to standard knowledge, other knowledge is stimulated, thus seeking to better develop the child's learning ability.

3 - Not dealing with bullying

Assuming that the home where the child is growing up is harmonious, when receiving education at home, the child will be in a more peaceful and learning environment. Nor will it have the unpleasant part of most schools, which is bullying, maximizing learning and reducing some trauma.

4 - Contact with other children

With a broader reach and access to the internet, today it is possible to break down some of the social contact barriers. You can interact and meet other people around the world using this type of technology, and with parents around you, better monitoring can be done. This is a controversial point yet, as inserting a child into a standard school does not guarantee that she actually learns to interact in society.

5 - Tendency to go further in studies

A survey conducted in 2009 in the United States showed that 8% more home-school students finished college compared to students in other schools.

However, Brazil does not yet have a regulation that clearly defines the fundamentals of home education. The last position of the MEC is that the sport violates the Federal Constitution, the Law of Educational Guidelines and Bases and the Statute of Children and Adolescents. The body itself has already stated that it wants an in-depth study on the subject, but nothing has been presented yet. That way we will have a long way to go before the sport becomes a little more widespread here.
