Marijuana is safer than previously thought, scientists say

A team of scientists who published an article in Nature's Scientific Reports recently found that marijuana, when compared to other recreational drugs, is safer than we thought. The most dangerous substance of all is alcohol, according to the study.

During the research, the risk of death associated with several common substances was quantified. Not surprisingly, the deadliest top 3 is alcohol, heroin and cocaine, respectively. Marijuana came last, being considered the safest. The plant is 114 times less deadly than alcoholic beverages.

With the legalization or decriminalization of “marijuana” on the agenda in various parts of the world, the study comes at a good time. According to the survey, it is clear that authorities need to be concerned about the excessive consumption of other substances that are harmful to the lives of consumers and those close to them.

However, it must be remembered that this does not mean "go deep". In Brazil, marijuana is prohibited. Also, anything you ingest or put into your body can do harm - obviously, to excess. We can use as an example sugar, salt and various other legalized substances and products.

"We need to prioritize risk management over alcohol and tobacco over illicit drugs, " the scientists commented. And specifically about marijuana, they suggest "a strict legal regulatory approach rather than the current total ban approach."
