Bad news for those who live by coloring their hair

What is not lacking today in beauty salons is a huge range of colors to paint our locks. With the recent trend of brighter, brighter colors, we have ended up with an ever-changing palette of color choices.

While it looks cool to look at, a recent study in London reveals that women who dye their hair are often 14% more likely to develop breast cancer.

The head of research, Dr. Kefah Mokbel of Princess Grace Hospital, says it is recommended that you dye your hair up to a maximum of five times a year. For him, it is cool to look for products that are more natural too.

"While additional work is needed to confirm our findings, our findings suggest that exposure to hair dyes may contribute to the risk of breast cancer, " he said in a statement published in The Independent.

Mokbel also stressed that this association between one thing and another does not represent solid evidence of cause and effect. Other studies, however, such as the one cited by Sanna Heikkinen in Finland, had also found a relationship between hair dyeing and an increased risk of developing breast cancer.

Like Mokbel, Heinkkinen said one cannot be sure yet: "It may be, for example, that women who use hair dyes also use other cosmetics more than women who reported never using hair dyes, " he explained.
