The exhibition "Whitney! Celebrating Whitney Houston's Musical Legacy" was set up by relatives of the singer, who died in February at the age of 48, accidentally drowned in a hotel bathtub.

The exhibition includes dresses, some Grammy awards she has received, screenplays, model photos and personal effects. "We pick things that people will find most interesting and that in many cases bring fun memories, " said journalist Pat Houston, the singer's sister-in-law and former agent,

One of the highlights of the show is the beaded dress Houston wore at the 1994 Grammy Awards; private letters from legendary music producer Clive Davis; and the cup in which Houston sipped tea before each show.

The show makes no mention of the singer's turbulent personal life or her involvement with drugs - one of the factors that, together with heart disease, led to her death.

The Grammy Museum has said it has decided to hold the exhibition because of fan complaints about the absence of any posthumous homage. The event runs until February 2013 in Los Angeles, United States. On Friday, it hits "Sparkle" theaters, Houston's latest film.
