Japanese park turned into dazzling light show

In Brazil, Christmas lights are already starting to pop up in the city's buildings and stores. In Japan, special lighting actually begins shortly before the onset of winter, but already with the intention of celebrating the cold and blooming season of cherry trees.

Every year, parks and city districts across Japan brighten the night with brilliant large-scale exhibitions, bringing a new sense of beauty to the fading winter landscape. The largest of these illuminated exhibitions is in Nabana no Sato Park, located in Kuwana.

The park's beautiful gardens are illuminated with thousands of small LED lights during its annual Toka no Kyoen event, a title that can be understood as the “winter light recital”. This year's theme of decoration is "a celebration of Mt. Fuji as a World Heritage Site" and features a number of blinding and colorful installations.

The theme was chosen because Japan's most famous mountain was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in June this year and, in honor of this achievement, Nabana no Sato set up an exhibit with about 8.5 million sparkling lights. The show will be on site until March 31, 2014 to amaze many visitors. Check out more images below.
