Research gathers the 6 factors that can tell if you will have a long life

When it comes to health, you already know that it gets serious - or at least it should be. We rarely catch ourselves reading tips for living longer, sleeping better and eating the right way. In fact, it is necessary to develop good habits if the idea is to live well and well.

Beyond these factors, however, are a few more that allow us to conclude whether or not a person will have a long life. Time magazine has published a list of six essentials that can give us a sense of how long we will live - the idea is really a bit morbid, but if that's a topic of interest, it's worth checking out what's next. .

It all started when a group of Australian researchers decided to collect data and gather key habits related to increased risk of death, so it is becoming increasingly clear that some customs favor the onset of cancer and heart disease. Among the villains of the moment may be the office chair, since sitting too long is a terrible business.

To come up with this list of the six deadliest habits, researchers tracked for six years the lifestyle and health conditions of 231, 048 adults over 45 years of age. The bottom line was that the habits that can potentially cause a person to die too early are smoking, drinking alcohol, eating poorly, physical inactivity, sedentary behavior, and poor sleep quality.

When an individual meets all these factors at the same time, the risk of death is even greater. The measure used by scientists was years lost per person before the end of the study. According to the researchers, if these patients did not have so many bad habits, a third of deaths would be prevented during the years of research.

Among the researchers' curious observations is the fact that sleep-wise seems to be less harmful than sleeping too much. For scientists, this may have to do with the fact that long hours of sleep may be indicative of some illnesses, such as depression.

With regard to the habit of sitting for long periods, this is considered a more dangerous practice when associated with a sedentary life. For the study's author, Ding Ding of the University of Sydney, both sleep and physical inactivity are fundamental in this type of research, as they are directly linked to the habits that occupy a lot of our lives.

If the thing is ugly for you, don't despair. The good thing about talking about habits is that they can always be changed, and you can start right now to ensure a longer and healthier life.
