Get ready for winter with this electric poncho

Are you the type that dies of cold in winter? Or are you thinking of taking a trip to some snow covered destination? Perhaps this idea can solve your problems. Or not.

Berto Aussems, who has a blog about things you can do at home yourself, decided to take a risk as a stylist and created an electric poncho. Berto's idea is quite simple, and the materials used can be easily found. If you want to make yours, you will need an electric blanket, a 10 amp, 12 volt battery, a piece of fabric and simple sewing material.

Berto cut a head space right in the middle of the blanket, careful not to cut any of the electric wires, and then sewed a cloth around that space, so that the material did not end up fraying. He then used velcro to close the poncho's sides, and a battery to keep the blanket on, which is discreetly stored in a bag under the cover.

According to the designer-inventor, the electric poncho is capable of maintaining an internal temperature of approximately 20 ° C, and the battery lasts for 1 hour. The problem will be to go through airports with this model without stopping, in addition to the cost of materials:

  • Electric blanket: between R $ 250 and R $ 400;
  • Battery: 10 amps and 12 volts gel: $ 130; approximate weight of 1 kg.
