As much as the snack may not seem the most appetizing thing in the world, such black cheese has been very successful among the English, who have bought the delicacy in droves since its launch.

And if you are now imagining that it must taste like burnt food, know that it is nothing like that - at least not according to store manager Dan Mansfield, who said black cheese is a mixture of cheddar and charcoal and that, therefore, the cheese is tasty and creamy. He claims that all customers who try the product end up taking a whole cheese home.

One of the inventors, Amy Birkin, explained that the idea was to make attractive black cheese. After discovering that adding charcoal would not affect the taste of the product, black cheddar was developed. The idea worked so well that the clientele only increases.
