Saddam Hussain suffers to find a job in India

Easy, easy: this is not about the Iraqi dictator who was sentenced to death in 2006, but his namesake who lives in India! This Saddam Hussain is 25 years old and can't find a job even with the best qualifications.

This name is very popular with the Muslim community and was chosen by Hussain's grandfather when he was born. Today, he has completed his degree in Naval Engineering, but is unable to enter the job market because of the negative burden his name now bears on his most famous namesake.

He was the second best graduate of the class of 2014, but is the only one who hasn't got a job yet. His colleagues are in big companies around the world, but Hussain is getting used to the sheer number of "no's" he's been getting.

Saddam Hussain has high qualifications but suffers from name

After more than 2 years in this fight, he decided to contact some personal departments to understand the real reasons why he was ignored in the companies' selection processes. The majority response was surprising: their name breeds fear and distrust in employers.

It is interesting to note that the writing is different: while the dictator's name is spelled Hussein, that of the frustrated unemployed is Hussain. Even so, the similar sound prevents their hiring, mainly because their profession requires constant international travel or employability in multinationals.

To avoid comparisons with the Iraqi dictator, Saddam decided to legally change his name to Sajid Hussain, which only made things worse. It turns out that their documents lead to the new identity, but the college certificate still contains the controversial name, generating even more distrust of employers. Noorul Islam University refuses to change the degree, and Hussain has gone to court to get that right. The hearing is scheduled for May.
