Samsung? Apple? No, Disney has created a room that charges batteries by air.

Charging smartphone batteries "over the air" is the future. Exactly: we are not talking about wireless bases on which you rest your phone to charge the battery, but the ability to keep the phone in your pocket while it is recharged. While it would normally be expected that the first versions of this technology would be born in companies like Apple and Samsung, one possible application was Disney.

For now, you need to live in a metal box

Disney Research, the company's research arm, has developed a volumetric wireless system that can power multiple devices at once and without any wires. However, it still has a 'defect': it only works inside a metal box.

The researchers created a room with a ceiling, walls and floor covered with aluminum panels. In the center, a copper pole allows current to loop 1.3 million times per second into the structure - and capacitors at the center pole also ensure that the electric field does not interfere with other things inside the room. .

To charge smartphones and tablets, Disney has placed special receivers on gadgets that can make use of this magnetic field. Inside this prototype room, the researchers succeeded in powering cell phones, fans and even an electric toy car.

About the amount of energy released, the researchers said the device unleashes 1.9 kilowatts to gadgets, enough for 320 USB devices without affecting people inside the room.

Soon, in the stores closest to you

You see, this is still a concept, a prototype. Nor is it safe for humans to be close to the center pole - about 12 inches. But the future is beautiful: we are getting closer to charging our smartphones as we walk around the living room, bedroom or office.
