Siemens manufactures the world's largest propeller

In the generation of clean energy, Siemens does not play. The company is building a gigantic "weather vane" in the United Kingdom to transform wind energy into electricity. Each blade, so to speak, measures no less than 75 meters, larger than the wingspan of most commercial airplanes in circulation.

The complete system with the three blades and the turbine, called the B75, should result in a diameter of 154 meters. As it turns, the giant turbine will cover an area larger than two football fields or, more specifically, 18, 600 square meters.

However, it's not just the size that impresses. The B75 must spin at an incredible 288 km / h, to withstand all that speed, the blades are built in one piece with reinforced fiberglass. In addition, 300 units of these superturbines could produce enough electricity to power the consumption of 1.8 million British households.

If the tests with the B75 are successful, the company should deliver the remaining 299 units by 2017.
