The story of the Filipino who dreams of being identical with Clark Kent and being the human version of Superman is not exactly new. Herbert Chavez is a fashion designer who has been dreaming of changing his look since he was a child, and who now, in adulthood, has the financial means to pursue his goals.

This kind of radical change requires a great deal of aesthetic and surgical procedures - and of course a lot of money to afford it. In all, Chavez has had 23 surgeries to change just about every detail of his face. In addition to changing the shape of the nose, he did skin whitening, liposculpture, realignment, and jaw fill.

All of these procedures were performed over 18 years, and now that Chavez wanted to undergo some more surgeries, he was barred by his doctors, who discovered that he was injecting substances to fill his own abdomen.

Arriving at the doctor asking to have Superman's famous flawless abdominal, Chavez was caught in the act, after all, apparently, our Philippine Clark Kent ended up applying illegal and toxic substances in his belly.

The product ingested by Chavez is called MesoLipo and, because it is toxic, eventually causing swelling and stains all over the stylist's body. The medical team therefore refuses to perform new surgeries on the abdominal region of the model.

One of the doctors who evaluated Chavez's case, Dr. Terry Dybrow, said that what he needs to have the dreaming belly is actually enrolling in a gym. "Iron abdomen should be gained through exercise and proper nutrition, " he said.

Chavez, disappointed to learn that he will not be able to undergo another surgery, eventually confessed that he is very fond of eating chocolate. Regarding the procedures he has gone through, the designer says he has no regrets about anything: “Everything that has happened in my life has been positive and this is because of Superman, ” he said.

Knowing that he will not be able to perform procedures forever, Chavez said he will stop if one day doctors say his body can take no more or that he is old for this type of procedure.

The obsession with Superman is such that, besides looking like his idol, Chavez is in the Guinness Book for boasting the world's largest number of Superman collectibles. He currently claims to have more than 5, 000 pieces in his collection, and aims to double that number.
