Toyota announces recall in several countries due to 'arachnid problems'

Toyota announced a recall of 870, 000 of its vehicles - including Camrys, Venzas, Avalons and 2012 and 2013 model hybrids - across the United States, Canada, Mexico and 16 other countries.

The problem contained in these cars is a defect in the air conditioning ducts, which causes water to leak into the airbag system. And, apparently, it's the fault of the spiders!

From what was reported in The Atlantic, arachnid insects have been weaving their webs inside the car's condensers and the webs, in turn, are clogging the air conditioner's drainage ducts, causing water to overflow into the control module. of the airbag.

In most cases, this only causes the airbag warning light to come on, with no other reported problems.

Despite all the buzz surrounding the news, the system defect caused by spiders is not widespread and has so far been reported with only three airbag infiltrations and 35 warning light activations. Still, recalling the 870, 000 vehicles is a must, as it is a safety precautionary measure to investigate possible occurrences and correct them, and ensure that other cars do not have the problem and can be released.
