5 meter tiger shark catches another 'hammer' type and ends up dead

Viral cases involving sharks often fall into the network. Stories and videos like the divers who had their cage attacked, the clash between orcas and shark, the recent attack on surfer Mick Fanning broadcast live at the World Surfing Championship or the eerie and creepy leprechaun with its creepy bite, reported here at Mega, they take the internet for showing these scary animals in action.

However, the stories are not always cool or just bizarre. Like the video of a pregnant female hammerhead shark and the photo of a shark that was served whole at a resort in Tunisia, another case of a shark that dies at the hands of humans gains negative repercussions on the Internet. A huge tiger shark was caught by a fisherman on Nine Mile Beach in Australia.

The photos viralized on the internet due to the large size of the animal. However, the catch fisherman, an Australian named Matthew, said in an interview with The Northern Star that he believes the hunted animal is not as impressive for its size. “I've dived with sharks bigger than this one. This is a small one, ”he said.

Almost 5.5 meters long, the animal was mistaken by netizens for a copy of the famous white shark species and generated outrage in several conservation groups. However, spokesman for the marine environmental protection group "Positive Chance for Marine Life" Karl Goodsell denied the report, saying it was a tiger shark and could measure up to seven meters.

Goddsell calls himself a surfer and conservationist and seeks to make the population understand the importance of preserving species such as sharks, whose hunting can have a great impact on the environment. “We need these predators to ensure the balance of the ecosystem in the oceans. Taking these animals out of the marine environment without knowing their behavior or migration patterns is like 'covering the sun with the sieve', as scientific studies show that this will not solve problems with shark attacks, ”he explained.

Fisherman Matthew also defended himself by stating that he had no intention of killing the big animal. He said he was initially in battle with a hammerhead shark he had hooked when, before taking him back to the boat, the tiger shark appeared and snapped up the smaller animal. According to him, this is the explanation for the apparently swollen shape of the huge fish in the viralizing photos.

A year ago, we presented a video with a situation similar to the one described by Matthew, here at Mega Curious. In the recording, a small hooked shark was snapped up by a giant fish before being put into the boat. You can check out this video by clicking here.
