Video shows how sugar affects the human brain

When it comes to sugar, there is no denying it: it is certainly one of the most delicious drugs in the world. If you can't get rid of a sweetie every once in a while, you can start betting on less processed sugars, like the brown one. In fact, in terms of health, prefer brown sugar to artificial sweeteners, which are related to the onset of type 2 diabetes and even weight gain.

The fact is that sugar is often considered a villain by the way it acts in our brains, activating regions linked to the notions of reward, making us increasingly wanting "some sweet thing." The TED-Ed guys recently published a video that shows the changes that sugar causes in our body.

The cool thing is to realize that, as with the use of other drugs, such as nicotine, getting rid of the habit of consuming sugar can be difficult at first, but it is possible.
