We are used to seeing the images of the zodiac signs always in the same form, the little fish, Libra's little rock, the stylized centaur of Sagittarius, the lion or the bull drawn in common shapes and so forth.

But American artist Damon Hellandbrand decided to do something different, illustrating the twelve signs of the zodiac in the form of sinister and frightening monsters. They are surreal creatures that seem more out of a nightmare realm.

According to a Bored Panda article, Hellandbrand does much of his art with various digital illustration programs, but many of them are born as pencil drawings or watercolors. Check out the 12 recreated zodiac signs in the form of fabulous monsters:
