Do you know what material this dress was produced with?

The fashion world is always looking for innovations to create unique and exclusive pieces. In one such experiment, designer Iris van Herpen - in partnership with product designer Jolan Van Der Wiel - created a series of dresses with a very different concept.

The models were created from a mixture of iron filings and fabric resin, and then gained the action of magnets that caused magnetism to transform the design, making the dresses “grow”. This is the expression used by the creators to describe the shapes the pieces took. Thus, the magnets were in charge of “pulling” the clothes in different shapes, resulting in unusual textures.

Each dress took three weeks to gain those shapes generated by the phenomenon of attraction and repulsion. If you found the look of the dresses a bit eccentric and look like some music stars, that's right. Fans of designer Iris van Herpen's work include Lady Gaga and Björk.
