15 foods that dentists advise us to stop consuming

Just as doctors should be more careful with health, at least theoretically, dentists are expected to put their oral health knowledge into practice. Prevention has made a list of foods that some pretty-smiling doctors avoid consuming. Check it out below:

1 - Soda

It doesn't matter if it's light, zero, diet. No matter the brand or quantity. Soda is not good for health at all and, regarding oral health, the drink is dangerous because it can erode the natural enamel of the teeth.

2 - Apples

Calm. We are not telling you to stop eating apple, but if your teeth are sensitive or if you have any pain, avoid biting the fruit directly. Ideally, apples and similar fruits and vegetables should be cut beforehand into smaller pieces with a knife.

3 - Hard Bullets

Bullet sucking may seem innocent, but the truth is that these sweets end up in your mouth for a long time, exposing your teeth to really large amounts of sugars. No chewing hard candy either - that's a sweet way to break your teeth.

4 - Ice

If you're the type who is biting chunks of ice after the drink is over, be aware that this is a bad deal for those with sensitive teeth, and another easy way to break your teeth.

5 - Corn on the cob

Eating corn directly on the cob can end up with possible dental repairs you have already made. If you use braces, stay away from the ears! The ideal is to scrape the corn before eating it.

6 - Red Sauce

Dark colors can generally damage the natural tooth enamel. Red sauces easily erode the dental surface thanks to the acidity of the tomato. The result? Yellow spots and teeth.

7 - White Wine

While the big villain seems to be red wine, the truth is that white wine is even more harmful. The problem is the high level of acidity that characterizes the drink and can cause stains.

8 - Breath-Cooling Tablets

After consuming minty mints, you may even get a clean mouth feeling and fresh breath, but these products are often filled with sugar, one of the great villains of a healthy mouth. When in doubt, prefer sugar-free tablets.

9 - Chewing gum and candy

Not surprisingly, dentists avoid these tempting sweets; after all, chewing gum and candy can accumulate between the teeth, creating plaque and, of course, the dreaded caries. If what you need is just a sweet taste to keep on living, prefer a bit of bittersweet chocolate - some recent research has indicated that delight can help to end the plates.

10 - Potatoes

As much as they seem like a light snack option, the truth is that these potatoes are crispy at first, but sticky after chewing, which means food residues stay in your mouth for a long time.

When potato particles get stuck between the teeth, there is an increase in acid production and consequently your oral health is impaired. Worst of all, nobody eats just one or two chips; In fact, we are talking about a snack that we eat for a long time, which increases acid production.

11 - Lemonade

If there is one thing you have learned so far is that acidic substances are not good for your mouth, then needless to say that lemon juice is not a good choice. The problem with drinking is not just acid, but the dangerous combination of acid and sugar.

12 - Popcorn

The problem with popcorn is that it can get between your teeth too and cause an increase in bacteria production. Even worse if you are the type that is biting the beans that have not popped - they can break your teeth.

13 - Dried fruits

Although dried fruits have rich nutritional properties, they do not do so well for teeth. The problem here is how fruits are preserved, with sugar and insoluble fiber, which can make a layer of sugar around the teeth. When in doubt, eat fresh fruits.

14 - White Bread

Refined carbohydrates in foods like white bread and pasta are unhealthy at all and even bad for your teeth. The problem is caused by food sugars, which are easily dissolved in the mouth and can corrupt tooth enamel. As it is also a food that turns into goo when chewed, it is possible that small pieces are left between the teeth and cause cavities and plaque.

15 - Sports drinks

If after going to the gym you drink isotonic drinks and the like, know that this type of product is not good for your oral health. It is the fault of sugar and the acids that rule the drink. Detail: The fact that people tend to rinse with isotonics only makes things worse.
