7 unusual animals that have already disturbed some flights

With Halloween coming, many horror stories also appear. Some happen only in fiction, but there are some horrible tales that can occur in common places, such as a plane trip, for example. The people at AirHelp, the leading flight compensation company, have put together a list of some of the most bizarre things that have happened in mid-air, leading to some of the weirdest flight delays around the world. Check out:

1. Bee bees

A Citilink flight was stopped at Indonesia's Kualanamu International Airport due to thousands of bees that were on the right wing of the plane. Luckily, the animals couldn't get in. Frustrated passengers waited more than 90 minutes until firefighters arrived and blew off the insects.

2. Cockroaches

A cockroach colony took over a curtain split on an American Airlines flight from Miami to Reagan National Airport a few years ago. Passengers were left huddled in their seats during the flight, having to deal with the unwanted group of passengers, causing a two-hour delay.

3. Snakes on board

In 2012, an Egypt Air flight was forced to make an emergency landing in the Egyptian resort town of Al Ghardaqa due to a passenger being bitten by a snake. The passenger managed to smuggle the offense into a handbag. After being bitten, the passenger was trying to control the snake, but it soon slid under the seats to the fear of passengers sitting nearby.

Another incident with a snake caused Qantas to land its flight from Alice Springs to Melbourne in 2009, when four pythons mysteriously disappeared from its cargo hold container, and the cabin crew could not find them. Unfortunately, in both cases, Samuel L. Jackson was nowhere to be seen!

4. The end of the sting

A woman was stung by a scorpion while waiting aboard her plane, ready to take off from Los Angeles International Airport on an Alaska Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Portland, Oregon. The plane returned to the gate after the woman was stung in her hand and needed to be examined by doctors. The incident caused the airline a delay of 50 minutes.

5. Ants with heat

Passengers on a late flight from Mexico City were startled when they turned on the air conditioner: a swarm of ants had entered the openings and hundreds of them were sprayed through the cabin.

6. Mice

Passengers on a British Airways flight to San Francisco in early 2017 were delayed by four hours when a mouse was spotted on their plane. They were already on board, ready for the plane to depart, when the presence of this rather unusual stowaway was suddenly announced. The small rodent may have cost BA more than £ 150, 000 in compensation for passengers on board the flight.

Similarly, in 2016, a Qatar Airways flight from Madrid to Doha was postponed for more than six hours after a rat was spotted running through the cabin. Upon landing at Madrid's Barajas airport, the plane had to be fumigated, resulting in a 6-hour delay on the return flight.

7. Iguana Hunting

A WestJet flight landed in Toronto after customs officials determined that some unwelcome guests had joined the flight. One passenger managed to smuggle iguanas into his luggage, but when they were discovered, only two of the creatures were still in the suitcase. The crew was notified, and the plane had to stand still for the cargo bay to be fumigated, preventing iguanas from escaping or damaging the aircraft.
