One of the postcards of São Paulo is its rich gastronomy, which has options for all tastes and pockets. The "geek" audience, which is now a source of pride and the main target of related companies, has even been given a new name in its ever-changing process: "geek". Anyway, geeks or geeks have different tastes and styles within a common universe, but one thing is fact: virtually everyone loves Star Wars and hamburger.

In fact, it is one of the favorite options on the São Paulo menu - and the Brazilian in general, in fact, who loves to mix American food with the traditional rice and beans combination.

Aware of this, the Jedi's Burger & Grill restaurant, opened a month ago in the capital, offers a simple and yet very welcome proposal to the São Paulo gastronomic program: a completely themed Star Wars restaurant / diner.

We visited the site to check the fidelity of the theme, the decorative choices, the level of service and, of course, the menu, which has hamburger, chips, cheese and bacon, milkshake and much more. All there on 1194 Verbo Divino Street, located in the traditional Chácara Santo Antônio neighborhood, in the south of São Paulo.

Small, simple and honest

The façade of the place is common and does not necessarily attract attention. The name of the restaurant appears on a discreet round sign at the top of the door and piques geeks' Jedi curiosity. No wonder: on entering, one gets the impression of being aboard a ship in George Lucas's movies - an X-Wing, perhaps - because everything is adapted: wall paintings, prints and even doors of the bathroom refer to characters and images of the saga.

The room is relatively simple, small, with only one ground floor and a number of tables that should surely find it difficult to meet the high demand of the place. Because, let's face it, São Paulo is “lacking” of something that has a different theme - especially if this theme is geek, which is on the rise. So wait for Homeric queues (which may take more than an hour) if you want to go at a peak time.

Tables and chairs are common and follow the traditional snack booklet. The counter may be a more special choice because, on the wall directly opposite, there is a huge print with the characters in the series, covering from end to end.

Prices are very honest: the snacks start at $ 22.50, with options for "ogres" and small mouths. Portions also appeal: Simple fries run for $ 16.90, while Jedi's Potato, which carries cheddar, bacon and gratin cheese, comes out for $ 10.30 and serves three people quietly.

One of the highlights for those who want to taste a juicy hamburger is Big Jedi's. Or rather two: for $ 25.50, the snack comes with two hamburgers, lettuce, cheese, Jedi's special sauce, which has a slight touch of pepper and salt just right, onion and pickles on the famous black bread. The kitchen is under the command of Robson Perez, one of the restaurant's partners and chef. We are not specialists in gastronomy and we visited the place for the theme it offers, but the snack was a delight.

In order to have this color, the bread is made and colored based on bamboo charcoal and therefore retains its natural appearance, without changes in taste or softness. “We renew our inventory daily. Many people think this bread is weird or may taste different when looking at the pictures, but when they try it, they realize it is like any other bread, ”Angelica Cerqueira Leite, local maitre d 'told us.

The portions are equally generous. As mentioned, Jedi's Potato, for $ 12.30, carries cheddar, bacon and gratin cheese. The appetizer comes in a generous tray that serves three people with peace of mind. Another interesting option for those who like onion rings is the Chewie portion, which brings fried breaded onions for R $ 19.90.

But those who want to spare the stomach of American "gordices" can opt for common dishes, including pasta and risottos. There are traditional alternatives, such as Bolognese lasagna, for R $ 28, 90, and shimeji risotto, for R $ 36, 90. Salads are also on the menu. The Princess Leia option brings a beautiful catch: lettuce, tomato, potato, green beans, egg, black olives and solid tuna, all for R $ 25, 90.

Children also have their own section on the menu. If you have an ogrinho son, you can choose Padawan, a dish that comes with rice, beans, two smile potatoes and 2 nuggets for R $ 19, 20.

Milk shakes, petit gateau and ice cream, among other options, complete the dessert menu. One of the highlights is the Nutella milkshake, for R $ 25, 90, which comes in a generous glass able to serve two people who are already almost satisfied with their salty treats.

Pleasant environment

In addition to the star-studded walls of the world of Star Wars and the custom menu, there are TVs on-site shooting movies from the saga, red-eyed Darth Vader on the bathroom door and other details that will appeal to fans and non-fans of the movies.

The dishes on the menu carry iconic character names and everything has a bit of Star Wars. Even the notebook in which the bill comes has a Darth Vader on the front. Sensational!

As we said above, tables and chairs are common, so don't wait for intergalactic things or waiters dressed in stormtroopers. “That was a group of fans who happened to be at Disney and bought Stormtroopers costumes. On the opening day of the restaurant they came here and took several photos, even joked that they were waiters. So many people thought that the waiters here wore costumes, ”explained Angelica. “They [fans who bought the clothes] show up here every once in a while and take a lot of pictures, ” he added.

In fact, it would be inhumane to have waiters put on these hot, tight costumes as they walk around taking orders and balancing trays, right?

Anyway, Jedi's Burger & Grill is another nice option for the paulistano to complement his gastronomic program with a hint of geek - and on top without spending too much.
