Global warming: See how some famous places can look in the future

Despite the skepticism of many, the truth is that it is becoming harder and harder each day to ignore global warming and deny that Earth's climate is changing rapidly. Strong evidence of this has been pointed out by several studies, which revealed that sea levels are rising rapidly. So much so that, according to estimates by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, by 2100 oceans should rise by an average of 2 meters.

In addition, according to projections, as temperatures rise over the coming centuries and the polar ice caps melt, sea levels can rise by between 6 and 9 meters. So, based on this evidence - and official data available on various websites - Nickolay Lamm, a young researcher and artist from Pittsburgh, USA, created a series of images inspired by this panorama, depicting some famous sites under 14 feet from Water.

After seeing Lamm's interesting work, the folks at the POPSCI website have created several GIFs that show the advancement of the waters and how the various locations the researcher might choose might look if global warming is not halted. Check it out below:
