In 1912, the American Wilbur Scoville created the “Scoville Scale”, which serves to measure the burning amount of a pepper. This gradation is also called “Scoville Heat Units”, translated from the English “SHU” (Scoville Heat Units). To reach an exact value, the pepper is immersed in a solution with water and sugar - the more solution needed to dilute the pepper, the hotter it is.
