Watch this video and find out if your IQ is high

Although the intelligence coefficient - or IQ - should not be understood to mean that one person is smarter than another, who is not curious whether their score is high or low? So get ready to watch the video below, produced by researchers at the University of Rochester, USA.

The animation is in English, but all you have to do is pay attention to the bars that appear during the animation. First, check if you can see any movement. Then pay attention to the direction in which the bars move - from right to left or from left to right - and whether it is easier to identify this movement in larger or smaller drawings. Prepared?

Bars and movement

As you can see, the images are presented in different sizes, and the researchers measured how long the study participants needed to identify the direction in which the bars moved. They found that individuals who were more likely to perceive movement in the smaller drawings generally had the highest IQs as well.

According to the researchers, this is because people with higher intelligence coefficients seem to be easier to perceive the movement of smaller bars as they better filter out what's going on in the background, focusing their attention on small things more efficiently.

Remember that having a high IQ does not necessarily mean that an individual is superintelligent, as it is a standardized test that has a very specific measurement as a result. Measuring human intelligence as a whole is much more complex than that, and all the video experiment does is help predict the outcome of the standard tests. And you, reader, got the expected result after watching the animation?
