Get to know the amusement park that runs inside a salt mine

Plunged more than 100 meters below one of Romania's largest cities is Salina Turda, a salt mine nearly a millennium old.

However, in the 1990s, it was reinvented to become a tourist attraction, and today there is an underground theme park with a bowling alley, a lake and even a ferris wheel.

Capturing the unspeakable beauty of the place was a challenge that photographer Seymour masterfully accomplished. In her work, the mine seems to reference other worlds, such as a bioluminescent alien organism. At other times, it resembles an underground military base.

"Salina Turda was one of the toughest spaces I've ever had to photograph, especially for its darkness, " he says. "I wanted to capture the way people were using space."

According to the photographer, it is difficult to describe the environment: "It's like a big empty hall that houses few people, the sounds of bowling, some screams and laughter." He says there is a mix between the old mining infrastructure, the walkways, the stairs and the modern interventions, which can give the feeling that all this is very risky - a sensation that becomes a separate “attraction” in the park. .
