A recently released scientific discovery may bring hope to those who suffer from hair loss. According to the Telegraph newspaper, researchers conducted tests on scalp samples of more than twenty men suffering from androgenic alopecia, that is, genetic cause baldness.

The results showed that the bald areas had a three times higher level of PGD2 protein. There are now ten drugs available that prevent this protein from working, and based on this, scientists may develop a treatment in the form of cream or ointment to combat this type of problem.

The study by Professor George Cotsarelis of the University of Pennsylvania was published in the journal Science Translational Medicine. In the future, researchers intend to study the effectiveness of this protein inhibitor in women who also suffer from the same disease.
