Game of Thrones: Movie May End 7 or 8 Season Saga on TV

A statement by George RR Martin - author of the books that spawned the HBO series Game of Thrones - made a fuss this week. In an interview during the premiere event of the series' fourth season, Martin talked about the possibility of the saga ending in theaters.

Dragons in theaters?

“It all depends on how long the main series lasts. Will we last seven years? Will we last eight? Will we last 10? ”Said the author. “Books get bigger and bigger [in scope]. It may take a movie to wrap things up, something on a movie budget, like $ 100 million for two hours. Those dragons get really big, you know. ”

Another possibility pointed out by the author of the books is a film based on his prelude series, Tales of Dunk and Egg, which follow the lives of several characters who lived in the mythological Westeros 90 years before the story that is being told today in the literary saga The Song of Ice and Fire and the television series Game of Thrones.

These comments from Martin came a few days after Game of Thrones producers David Benioff and DB Weiss revealed that they already know how the series will end, as they talked with the book's author to find out the final fate of each character in the saga.

After all, the series is getting closer and closer to what is being told in George's books.

Producers still consider that the series should have a limited lifespan and would like to end it in seven or eight seasons. "It won't go on just because it can, " Weiss said.

"I think the desire to get more out of [this story] is what could eventually kill her if we give in [to this urge]."

Finally, talking about rumors that US President Barack Obama was receiving early episodes of Game of Thrones to watch, the producers confirmed the news: “One perk of being the most powerful man in the world: yes, you get the episodes early. ”
